What in the world is he doing now? At the moment, I work for Tait Electronics. I have been with "Taits" now for just over half a year. Tait design and manufacture two-way radios. Before joining Tait, I thought that these radios were used just to broadcast a message to other radios who might be in the general area. But I have since found that this is only one way they are used. Read More...> At Taits, I am writing a PC program to "program" a new radio that will be released soon. I have quoted "program" because that is what they call it but it is really configuring a radio. Sure, part of it is uploading the firmware, but I still see this technically as configuration rather than programming. Anyway, the program I am working on is responsible for literally hundreds of parameters. Not only do these parameters have to be uploaded to the radios, but we have to provide a good interface to the user so that they can manage the parameters efficiently and allow them to set up the radios exactly the way they want them to be set up. The program has to have a lot of technical knowledge about the parameters and how they interrelate because the program will not allow the user to upload an invalid set of parameters that might cause the radio to cease to function.

In trying to work out what to say here, it occurred to me that I should be very careful about what I say regarding the projects that I am working on. I hope you'll excuse me if I don't get into too much detail about current projects. |
